COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP REPORT
INTRODUCTION
A Community Living Camp offers participants a unique experiential learning opportunity, fostering collaboration and communal living. Through activities such as team-building exercises, community service, cultural exchanges, and reflective discussions, participants develop skills like teamwork, leadership, empathy, and cultural understanding. These camps promote personal growth, social responsibility, and community engagement, preparing individuals to contribute positively to society.
The Community Living Camp organized by PTM College of Education, Maruthoorkonam, under the program "ARISE," held from March 18 to March 22, 2024, was a transformative experience for the participating students. Aimed at future educators, the camp provided practical learning in community engagement, social responsibility, and collaborative learning.
THEME
The theme "Education and Social Change" explored the transformative role of education in societal progress. Through discussions, activities, and projects, participants delved into historical and contemporary movements where education drove equity, inclusion, and social justice. By analyzing educational systems and engaging in community initiatives, participants learned how educators can contribute to a more equitable and socially conscious society.
OBJECTIVES
* Promote social accommodation and broaden students' mental abilities.
* Foster democratic involvement in educational activities.
* Develop critical thinking on educational policies.
* Explore cultural, social, scientific, educational, and environmental aspects of communities.
* Cultivate interest in holistic personality development.
SECTION-WISE DETAILS
Day 1: Flag hoisting and inaugural session led by MLA Kovalam Constituency Adv. M.Vincent, followed by campus cleaning, tool preparation for surveys, and group activities.
Day 2: Survey activities, leadership training, yoga, meditation, and sessions on alternative medicine.
Day 3: Adventure activities, aquarium visit, lunch, deer park visit, leisure park activities, and a movie screening.
Day 4: Yoga, awareness classes on electrical safety and road safety, aerobic training, and a mindful session followed by a campfire.
Day 5: Meditation session, exploration of yoga and Ayurvedic medicine, movie screening, and lunch break.
OUTCOMES
1. Skill Acquisition: Improved planning, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
2. Personal Development: Enhanced confidence, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
3. Cognitive Growth: Promoted critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

LIMITATIONS
1. Simultaneous sessions may challenge participants' attendance.
2. Packed itinerary leaves little room for downtime or flexibility.
3. Insufficient rest time considering early starts and late-night activities.
4. Outdoor activities constrained by temperature, necessitating adjustments for comfort and safety.
SUGGESTIONS
1. Avoid simultaneous sessions to ensure full engagement.
2. Include relaxation or nap time in schedules for well-being and productivity.
3. Balance educational, recreational, and leisure activities to cater to diverse needs.
CONCLUSION
The "ARISE" Community Living Camp was a transformative experience, fostering skills and perspectives essential for future educators.
