Third Two Weeks Of My Teaching Experience
The third week of teaching practice started from 6/1/2024 to 19/1/2024. These two weeks were very good for me. I have got so many things to learn and understand from the school teaching life. I have got chance to monitor students of the classes 6 B and 7 B and thus I could understand their behaviours, emotions and feelings. I was able to complete a lesson this week which is the story named ' The Trio' written by the famous Indian English writer R. K. Narayan. And I was able to start a new lesson named ' The Happiness Machine' written by Ray Douglas Bradbury. I monitored the classes of certain teacher trainees of our school and thus I was able to learn some new mannerisms and teachings methods used by them while taking classes and I think it would be worthy working if I also adopt it while taking classes.
I was also able to attend two PTA meetings arranged by the school teachers for the parents. The teachers, parents and PTA members together discussed the way how to improve discipline among the students of the class. I have done my discipline duty well during this week. Also there was a film show in which the students were shown the Malayalam movie 'Falimy'. I along with other teacher trainees issued the movie tickets for the students and collected ₹20 each for the movie and admitted the students into the school auditorium according to the class order. The movie was shown by the Mahatma Gandhi Film Society in coordination with G.H. S. Kandala. The movie started from 10:30 Am and extended upto 1:00 Pm. First they showed a documentary regarding pollution and then they showed the movie as per the instruction of the Head Master. The movie was nice and the students enjoyed it despite of the hot climate and mosquito bites.
There was a Free Homeo Medical Camp conducted by the Rapid Action Epidemic Control Cell (RAECH) of Homeopathy in coordination with Malabar Golds and Diamonds. The camp was from 10:00 Am to 12:30 Pm. The camp was for the students of the classes 8,9 and 10. The details of the students were taken by me, Nandana and Jomon which includes their name, age, phone number, sex, date and weight weighed from the weighing machine The bloods and urines of the students were also collected inorder to check their blood count and urine culture. The camp ended at 12:30 Pm. We the teacher trainees also checked our blood pressure and sugar level.
Dr. Sasi Kumar sir ( HOD of Mathematics Department ) of our college visited our school and monitored the classes of Sidharth, Jomon, Mahima, Hari, Akhila and mine. He had his lunch with us, gave feedback to our classes and thus we were able to understand our strengths and weaknesses of the classes that we were taken. Bindya maam (Assistant Professor of English ) of our college also visited and monitored our class in this week She monitored the classes of Akhil, Lekshmi and mine. She gave us valuable feedbacks and instructions to be followed in the school as a teacher trainee. Kiran sir ( Assistant Professor of Social Science ) of our college visited us and he monitored the class of Hari and gave him feedbacks. He enquired us about our experience as a teacher. Dr Renjini maam ( Department of Psychology ), Lekha ma'am ( Assistant Professor of Physical Science ) and Lissi ma'am ( Assistant Professor of Malayalam) was the last ones to visit our school and monitor our classes in these days. Renjini ma'am visited and monitored the classes of all the teacher trainees from our college which includes me, Akhil, Lekshmi, Hari, Jomon, Sidharth, Akhila, Reshma, Nandana and Mahima. She also gave us so many instructions and suggestions to improve our classes. Lissi maam left after watching the classes of Nandana and Reshma and Lekha maam left after watching the classes of Sidharth and Akhila.
Anyway this week was more exploring, informative and was a great experience for each one of us from the PTM College of Education remembered us that there are some things to realise and understand from this teaching life.
